Chinese aid to Africa: the true (but not final) picture

'Chinese aid is no different from American', says Michael Tierney, associate professor of International Relations at the College of William and Mary, USA, and the director of the AidData Center for Development Policy. He is involved in the AidData.org project where development assistance has been mapped from media reports. The data, collected from about 1,700 Chinese aid projects during the last decade, shows that China is financing the hardware of development, such as infrastructure.
